Thank you to everyone who helped make this years Marple Food and Drink Festival a hugh success.
Marple Food and Drink Festival – “ Shop Local, Eat Fresh food, Live Better”
We had 23 stalls, selling meat, fish, fruit and veg, bread, cakes and pies, quality deli produce and delicious hot food plus more activities. Independent estimates put the number of visitors between 4000 and 5000 over the day.
This year we added music with Marple Band, Manchester Jazz and other performers from local schools. As well as face painting there was other street entertainment for the children.
In the week 15th to 20th September, many of the pubs, cafes and restaurants in the area held special events and menus.
From Wed 17th to Friday 19th there was the very successful
‘Real Ale Trail’ with two minibuses transporting customers around 15 fine real ale pubs in the area for a small charge.
The Festival was officially opened by the Mayor who cut the celebration Cake baked by "Icing on the cake" which included selling pieces to the public in aid of "Find a Cure for Martha Fund".
On the day we raised £600 for the "Find a Cure for Martha" charity, £200 for The Marple Band & £200 for the charity nominated by Manchester Jazz - Blythe House Hospice , Chapel-en-le-frith.
