Last Year

In 2007, Marple Food and Drink Festival held the first ever market in Market St.
We had 14 stalls including local food stalls, selling meat, fish, fruit and veg, bread, cakes and pies, quality deli produce and delicious hot food.
We had the Robinsons’ Brewery horse and dray, face painting for children, projects from local schools, healthy lifestyle advice from NHS, grow-your-own exhibits from the Allotments Society and other Marple related stalls.
After the Mayor of Stockport declared the festival open, she & the MP Andrew Stunell cut the Festival cake provided by Neil Drogie of The Icing On The Cake shop in Market St. The rest of the cake was eagerly scoffed by the throng of Festival visitors
The first Samuel Oldknow pie competition was won by Dave Burgess of The Rolling Pin, Marple with his fantastic Game Pie.
Independent estimates put the number of visitors between 4000 and 5000 over the day. The pubs and cafes of Marple were buzzing all day and well into the evening. A great day was had by all with everyone saying it must become an annual event, and it has!
